Reinvent-tage Day 1 - Part 2

Why do I make art?....I make art because I need to...it is that simple...

Below is the progress I made in 3 hours this morning...

open the canvas...
blank canvas welcomes me

sketch with graphite...
paint sketch with payne's gray

fill background...painting develops

I like the way the hair on the right is flowing into the background. I decide to make that happen on the left also. I was not at all satisfied with the painting at this point. I wanted more interest in the face, so I just started dabbing colors on the face and patting them back if they got too loud. The nose and lips took a long time to develop. I did not like the hard lines, so I worked with shading until it became a shape, not an outline...

continue painting the face above...as it is now below

is it finished???

See post here for your invitation to join the Reinvent-tage Retreat...and to see how the process works...

How interesting. I love to paint and I find that once I start I get in some kind of "zone" until it feels finished to me. Somedays, I know better than to even start =) Your gal is beautiful but I suppose that if you're like me, you're the only one that'llknow when she's done. Blessings... Polly

So lovely, I really like how the lines and colors flow, and the way it makes me feel looking at her.
