Reinvent-tage Day 23 - Part 2

Today's Intention...do what you don't know how to do...

Well this is my rendition of the painting in the video in this morning's post...it is not easy...what did I discover while painting...

  1. It takes a long time to learn to paint that sky and sea in 9:35 minutes
  2. You need good quality watercolor paper...mine began to fall apart as I painted
  3. You need good quality watercolor brushes...I just had acrylic brushes
  4. I need to take a watercolor class

I kind of like the painting...but it is not close to the one painted in the video...but I have grown...now I will be off to purchase better paper and brushes...did you paint with the video...let me know...

An artist friend of mine says that watercolor is the most difficult medium. I've only done a few watercolors and it truly is more difficult for me. I think your sky/sea turned out nice. Blessings... Polly (about 90 miles from downtown Chicago)

I had a friend who does watercolors and she always said it was dfifficult. For some reason she started taking those Bob Ross classes they have at Michaels and switched to that style.

Your sky came out great - it looks so atmospheric :)

P.S.don't forget to email the furniture painting handout. Thanks!

Yeesh. The last watercolor I did I threw it in the water!

I can pencil. I can sketch. I can even cross stitch... but painting just eludes me!

I've always wanted to learn how to watercolor. Maybe we both should take a class. Have you ever used PSP to "paint" a sky? I've had a lot of fun doing that. Thank you for the inspiration today.

I do not paint, but I so admire anyone who does!
Especially water colors...

I think it's wonderful that you're not afraid to try new things. My daughter started out doing watercolours when she was a child - her teacher said it was the most difficult medium and she should learn it first. You've done a great job - and the right watercolour paper and brushes do make a difference in the ease of painting! I am inspired by how you constantly reach beyond your comfort zone! xo

Hi, I found my way here from mrs nesbitts' place.

I think you did a wonderful job on this watercolor. Sunset glowing pink in the clouds. A strip of land forming a horizon line. Sunlight reflecting off a body of water.

Very atmospheric... in my opinion it's just a little flat. Maybe it's the photo's lighting?
