Reinvent-tage Retreat Day 18

Today's Intention...experiment by failure...try stuff...

"It is a mistake to suppose that men succeed through success; they much oftener succeed through failures. Precept, study, advice, and example could never have taught them so well as failure has done." -Samuel Smiles, author of "Self Help" 1880

"an artist is born..." 2007 - Graphite drawing, color photos, PhotoShop on paper

repeated artwork 'cause blogger is froggy tonight...

Are you struggling with the idea of 'how do I grow as an artist?' Reading, researching and looking at art blogs helps, but you have to go and try stuff...and then try more stuff...and keep on trying more stuff until you don't want to make stuff anymore...

Cre8Tiva On Experimenting...

Well, if you haven't guessed by now, this month is all about experimentation...experimentation means trying stuff...a hundred or a thousand times...trying every combination under the sun...just because because nobody else has tried it before...until...

See post here for your invitation to join the Reinvent-tage Retreat...and to see how the process works...

I've enjoyed seeing your "experiments" each time I get by here. There is nothing quite like just experiencing art!

BTW...you have to go visit Renninger's if you have never been. It is in Mt. Dora. Have you been there? Just look on mapquest, it's not that far from you for a road trip one day. The Antique Market is only open Sat & Sun, except during Extravaganza, coming up soon in November, then they open on Friday as well.

I am all for experimenting... ultimately, this is how one uncovers one's true creative voice. "an artist is born" is beautiful and speaks to me of sweet emergence.

I need to experiment more! Try NEW ways of creatng...I find myself doing the same things over and over ..which can get boring!

It is so true how all accomplishments are born of a series of failures. Thank you for the reminder!
Also, feedback given in good faith, can bring a creation to a new level!

I was just telling someone, better to have tried and failed than to never have tried at all. Life is about risks. Those we take and those we don't. Experiment away baby! Only then will your truly be creative!!

Love,
Julie

Yep, failure is a fine teacher. I seem to be re-learning that truth on a daily basis of late. Onward I grow.

So true. Something else I've learned through experience: "Women make no mistakes. They simply succeed!"
